Car starts; carbs spew fuel

Actually got the car to start...well, the key would not start the car, but the first click did activate the fuel pump and gauges. Had to push the button on the solenoid. Does this mean I need a new switch?

2nd problem: Once car started, fuel began to spew from under the front bowl lid. Took it apart, put back together, then spewed from under the rear bowl lid. I rebuilt both with Joe Curto's kits and the proper washer and screws are present. Could this be a float problem? I replaced the needle valves and adjusted the float. I thought the float/needle valve would prevent excess fuel entering the bowl. Any ideas? I'm planning to call Joe Monday.

I just went through the same issues yesterday. I had a fuel pressure problem and a float valve problem.

I put on the pressure regulator and adjusted the floats and all is well now.

Where does the regulator go? And where would I obtain one?

I adjusted the floats when I rebuilt the carbs so I don't know what else I can do unless the floats aren't floating.

The regulator goes between the fuel pump and the carbs. Mount it somewhere that's readily accessible.
The Holley P/N 12-804 low pressure regulator is the one to get, and should be available at any decent parts store. It regulates the pressure to between 1 and 4 PSI. A fuel pressure gauge capable of reading down that low should be a part of your tool kit, as well.

Do what Jeff said. Even if the floats are adjusted properly a burst of higher pressure from the pump can unseat the valve bu overcoming the float. Try the reg and let us know how it goes.
