Car Show Politics?

Same on the East coast, brothers. We took our car to the Hemmings sponsored show at Lime Rock this Memorial Day - early in the summer and didn't win. Got beat by a beautiful car with too much chrome. Depends on what the judges are looking for and what the show wants, or maybe the sponsors, in this case.
They didn't even look in our car's boot to see the original workshop manual signed by Donald Healey or none of the really good stuff!
Hey ! - It was a fine day to motor our fine Healey!
Then, ironically, we went to a hot rod show at the local beach and brought home a trophy!

My turn to report a trophy for a Healey at a mostly non-foreign car show...

Today we attended Heritage Day at Government Camp, Oregon, near Mt. Hood. It included a car show, and of the 20-25 cars there, there were only two British cars: my blue BN2 (see photo under my signature) and an MG-TD. The local Studebaker club turned out in force, but apparently they didn't arrange anything ahead of time, such as everyone agreeing to vote for so-and-so's car to guarantee him/her a trophy. Anyway, to make a long story short, my Healey won! It is, admittedly, looking pretty showy these days with AH aeroscreens fitted, the headlamps and Lucas driving lights taped -- a la race-preparartion -- with white tape, and two small Union Jacks fluttering in the breeze from their perches in the side curtain mounting sockets./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif

One contestant kidded that next year they wouldn't allow foreign cars. Those hot rod guys are sensitive I tell ya! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

My 15 year old son loves the trophy we won at a show. Occasionally I jokingly ask him when it will be my turn to display it. Personally I could care less. We won because we were new to the club and our fellow club members secretly lobbied for our car. I enjoyed winning for him.

OH Yeah ! you could care less, thats why you begging to display it Uself! .Plus ifn it was a big secret how come you know about it!??.--Keoke--- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

It wasn't a BIG secret. OK you got me. I love the trophy. When he goes to sleep tonight I am going to sneek it out of his room.

Went to the local show n shine today and walked off with best in veteran/vintage and runner up in best import
Must have been a healey day!

Went to a show yesterday and came in 17th in class...and there were only 6 cars. Went to a show today and won 1st in class. Go figure. My boy hugged the trophy all the way home. Makes it worth it.

I love to go to the shows with my son. Time together and instilling the fine value of an Austin Healey in the next generation. When I need to punish him, I tell him that I'm gonna be buried in the Healey.

As for the first show, they lumped all foreign together and there were more than 30 cars in the class. It was ridiculous. As for the second, weather report was miserable and turnout low. But he still won the trophy and he's keeping it!

WOT! You mean this time U not gonna sneak it out of his room after he go to sleep?. ---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

that wasn't me. that's the OTHER guy. I'm gonna sleep in the room with him.
