My 50 Ford Pickemup still runs, 30 some odd years after I bought it.
The OHC Subarus were initially a PITA.
Lifters made noise....two timing belts, always broke the one on the distributor side first.
Water pump behind it...always change it when apart.
Lifters never were..always oil pressure. Take the pump (front) apart and re-o-ring it.
Take the engine out every 4 years and re-seal it.
Fun.
New seals, gaskets, pull the case apart just enough to clean the anaerobic sealer out and put a bead of new and bolt it back together again.
All the work we had to do on them, I'd never own a Subaru....but, I remember the first ones...suBARu.
Downhill with a tailwind, 50MPH, maybe.
