Car Dolly's and LBC's /Drive or Tow to the Ozarks

Re: Car Dolly's and LBC's /Drive or Tow to the Oza

I may be able to piece something together by then, Barry.
A lot depends on my work schedule.

I know how that goes. I just need to get my car back from the body guy. He has stopped working on her because of Christmas. Can't really blame him, but I sure do want my car back. I haven't really been able to proceed since the summer. Except minor issues to keep him going of course! i.e. mini manifold /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif Hopefully he will finish within the next couple of weeks and I can continue working.

Man, If I end up making it there I hope you do too! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Are there any groups from the NorthWest yet?
It's quite a drive from the Seattle area.

Does anyone know of a seat pad that would keep that end of the body alive in a Midget for that many miles (and back)?

Re: Car Dolly's and LBC's /Drive or Tow to the Oza

Miata Seats might help. I had a tremendous immprovement inb seat comfort by replacing the seat webbing under the Driver Seat. A < $20 at the time investment certainly has made the seat a whole lot more comfortable. New foam in the seat bottom also will pay dividends. Seat upholstery fabric comes off with a couple of C-Clips. Seats come out with just 4 bolts. Two from inside and two from underneath. Try not to twist off the captive nuts.

Now here's a thought. Fly to California, pick up my '65, and drive from there! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I will start looking for some miata seats, that might be the best thing I can do. Do they increase, decrease or leave alone the amount of clearance for the driver?

Anyone need a Spridget driven from California?

Doug, my '65 is sitting down there in Winters, only a few blocks away from 505. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Maybe we could work something out.

Re: Car Dolly's and LBC's /Drive or Tow to the Oza

Could be. The longest trip I've had it on was 1000 miles. Trouble free, I might add. Maybe I could fly out, we could drive to the meet, and you could drive it back.

Let me know - give me a call sometime (not 2 days before
the meet).

Re: Car Dolly's and LBC's /Drive or Tow to the Oza

Dang I got to get busy. I got not seats in my car yet. I'm just so tired of working on it and been busy at work. I worked 79 hours last week and only had christmas off this week. I keep getting side tracked.

Re: Car Dolly's and LBC's /Drive or Tow to the Oza

Anyone comming out of the South Carolina/North Carolina region? We could hook up somewhere along the way and drive together. When and where? I'm leaving from Greenwood, SC.with my '59 bugeye Reply here or my e-mail: bugeye@nctv.com

Re: Car Dolly's and LBC's /Drive or Tow to the Oza

I see stuff like that at the race track all the time. Those folks have mega bucks in that stuff. The whole family comes to play and stays several nites usually right in the pits.

Re: Car Dolly's and LBC's /Drive or Tow to the Oza

I like stuff like the converted Caravan better.
You see some interesting tow vehicles at the track.
I remember meeting Hardy Prentice at Seattle.
He flat towed his TR3 with an E type Jag.I thought it
was an urban legend before that.

Re: Car Dolly's and LBC's /Drive or Tow to the Oza

Doug, one time, many years ago, ( I think we were at Riverside, if that tells you anything) Joe Huffaker Sr. mentioned something to Hardy about towing with the Jag.
Hardys' response was, "But Joe, it's the only car I've got!"
In about '95 or so, I ran into Hardy at Laguna, and he was pulling the TR3 with a Windstar. He told me he still had the Jag.
