I really wonder about the Prius brake bit. My 99 Silverado brakes always acts peculiarly when braking on a dry rough (undulating) surface, long braking distance with the ABS engaged. The kind of surface you have in industrial parts of town where trucks have "pushed up" the asphalt at intersections. I have never have been a big fan of ABS anyway.
The 2010 Prius brake issue is quite different. The Prius uses the electric motor as a generator to supply part of the braking force. This is controlled exclusively by the computer, and it seems that there is some sort of timing issue regarding when the electric motor starts acting as a brake. Ultimately it is more of a "feel" issue than actual braking issue, however given the current critical eye that Toyota finds itself under, this is not surprising.
