I'm considering that. I have the stock air filter box off, so there is a nice big place for it.

OK - dumb question here: How is that different from what Paul has? It's the stock TR8 system.

When I got mine it drained to atmosphere as the parts books says.
So I figured that was how it was.

Post a picture of what you've done, as I'm curious too. I have plenty of room on the TR7 battery deck that isn't used for anything.

Tomorrow afternoon I'll refill the system with water and let it run for a while with the new cap on then shut it down and let it cool a bit. I'll then re-check the water, add if needed and let it sit for a good 30-40 minutes at an idle just to let it purge any air and we'll see if the cap or something else is the problem.

I just went out to check the fuse before we go out for dinner. That fuse that you mentioned is fine. I was working all day and that is the only thing that I've actually done to the car. The rest was typing in between sales calls.

I think Don is talking about a simple overflow after the expansion tank. That way if it gets hot enough to push past the cap it is caught in an overflow with enough fluid in it to keep the overflow pipe submerged. Then the theory would be that as it cools, it will suck back in the expelled coolant. Only resulting in a coolant loss if the overflow after the expansion tank overfills.

That is how mine is. There is a hose on the expansion tank, if the expansion tank needs to vent that hose empties into the right hand front wheel well.
