Wedge Bye-bye black [TR8] bumpers......

Brosky

Great Pumpkin
Offline
Yesterday began the face lift on the TR8. Literally and figuratively.........

The guys at A&E started with the rear and are tweaking it in, little by little. They have to cut the rear inner support ends off and then the tight fitting will begin, after the inner is remounted and used as a support.

More to follow on the front end next week. For now Jorge is reworking the fiberglass to make sure it is smooth and has no waves in it.

Re: Bye-bye black bumpers......

Paul -

Really torn here. I MISS that car! But am so glad you're enjoying it.

Looking forward to seeing how it comes out.

Re: Bye-bye black bumpers......

Mickey, I miss it too and it's only been gone two days!!

I just picked up all of the bolts for the roll bar and I have to wire up the extensions leads for the third light (like my TR6) that will mount on the back of the roll bar. I'll drop those parts off later today.

The roll bar looks great. It is painted and then clear-coated to match the car perfectly. The upholstery shop will cut the rear cover boot and seam it to fit around the legs of the roll bar, once it is installed, so it should look good when it's all finished.

Dang Paul, wish I had your money, or your wife .
Would you hurry up and get it done.
Anticipation is killing me

Before I stopped back at the body shop to drop off the LED lamp for the roll bar and the bolts, I had a nice surprise arrive via priority mail. I had obtained a second hood support rod assembly for the TR8 and I sent it to a friend for dipping and coating and it is now awaiting installation as a shiny new addition to the engine compartment.

Just a little more detail bling to add to the party going on under there.

They are getting closer Don. The ends are cut off of the rear bumper support and it's back on the car. They are making a spacer to run along the top to shift the bumper up an inch and they are making a black rubber seal to run along the edge of the new rear bumper between the it and the rear panel. That will finish any slight gap off nicely. Once that is ready for paint, they will start fitting the new parking and fog lamps to the front panel before fitting it to the car.

I have more pics tomorrow or next Tuesday.

EDIT: The money is going quick, but I plan to keep my wife. Too hard to find another like her.

Sounds like that'll look great when it gets done Paul. Hope to see it at DoT in Brookline this month.

Your paint guys are top shelf, Paul. That's great to see.

Can't wait to see Mickey's EX all bumper'd up!! :jester:

Here are a few pictures of what it should look like, but with stock tail lamps in the rear and a black mesh grille up front and no black paint on the hood.

I've heard Aston Martin and French, so Italian is new to the mix. Being Italian, that doesn't bother me at all.

I just hated those big add on rubber bumpers and painting them didn't take the "big" factor away.

I agree, looks Italian. Almost Ferrarish very smuggly with it's eyes shut. Mondial maybe? I'd sport it. Now this has gotten my thinking...

Interior is too mordern for me.

I'm doing some searching for a fall/winter project...but for now, this is it.

Sorry, but those pictures just don't do it for me.
I thought that it looked great the way it was.Just my opinion.

That's OK Doug. These type of modifications always cause a certain amount of differences in opinions. As is evident with my TR6, I usually do what I think I like the most, as everyone usually does with their own cars. I just posted this to show what is out there, still available for these cars.

Yes Don, that could be considered one of my "eclectic" projects.

But these will show the progress along the way up until noon today.
