Bugeye - Reduced to $500!

It was Interlux Brightside light blue! It was sprayed but you know how it can be applied alternatively (just follow the intructions to the letter if you go to bare metal). The parts are nearly all ready and my uncle will be here March 27th to help install the engine and transmission. I have to make it a roller by then.

Steering arms it appears. So David, why grey and not Healey Green? And the oil pipe, did you order new? Looks new and those are NLA I believe. My spare 1275 has a cracked oil pipe I need to replace.

I'm not a big fan of green, I like "big healey" engine green better than sprite green. My car is going to be red, I reeeaaally don't like red and green together accept for x-mas stuff. My original plan was all black, but I thought that was too much, so I did gray with black accessories.

My oil pipe is original. It was previously black, I just buffed it with a wire wheel, then a little mothers polish.

Jim is correct. On some B/E the steering arms were painted yellow from the factory.

Since you are working on the front end, any evidence on your springs of the green stripe placed on the springs to ID them?

The great Frank C suggested that they were to ID the springs, by spring rating, from other springs in the factory.

Paul, Frank C ran a speedwell bonnet on his BE and got phenomenal gas mileage with it. I believe Frank Costin designed that bonnet and it is aerodynamically top notch. Glass in some good mounts and I'll bet you will keep it. Good buy!!

The bonnet already had all the mounting hardware on it. I just painted it last night. It is different, so I will post a picture tonight.
My car will hopefully be a kind of a tribute car to the first Leige Rome Liege car Sprinzel drove in the 1959 rally. Lots of little bits that should make for a nice ride.

Found similar green stripes and yellow arms on the Whitephrog.

Glad you responded. I am using your car's pictures to remind me where everything went as I am getting ready to put it all back together. I was wondering what you did to your nuts and bolts to get them ready or did you replace them all?

Here is a picture from the afternoon when I put the hood on.

Looks great!! I envy folks with patience! My work is mostly quick and dirty!

"I was wondering what you did to your nuts and bolts to get them ready or did you replace them all?"

I replaced most all the nuts and bolts with Grade 8 yellow zinc plated sourced from Fastenal and a locally owned hardware store.

Paul, I bought white brightside with the intention of rolling, but today I chickened out and bought an HVLP gun. Any tips on spraying Brightside? I've been going through the interlux forums, for hot weather interlux recommends thinning with about 10% of a 50/50 mix of brushing thinner and spraying thinner to slow down drying.

yours looks awesome btw.

Thanks,

David

Hints wait till cooler weather. i would do a test vertical piece or a door to check compatabilty at the temps and humidity you will be spraying at. I rolled my hardtop and it came out great, however lots of wet sanding b/t coats. I sprayed during on a warm (70 degree) winter day. You will find it lays down very nice. It had no orange peel. Leave it alone to harden for 30 days, before polishing or wet sanding.
