Hey, I don't mind this back-and-forth about finding a replacement for the original cable/switch at all. It's very interesting.
But, yes--what are people (like me) who are willing to have a separate switch for the fan, using for a cable? Just a generic cut-to-fit choke cable? Any will do?

This topic came up before. I am sorry no one has replied yet. I thought Jack said that any generic choke cable would do. Even though I have not used a generic choke cable on my Bugeye, I did use one from JC Whitney on my Falcon when I converted it from an automatic to manual choke. It came with everything I needed, including the L bracket and knob. I have had it in my car for 20 years with no problem. Out of curiosity, is the heater fan switch in the correct place, or would you be adding the choke cable to the same place that the switch/cable is normally placed?

The switch was located a couple of inches above the original heater cable/switch combination. It was a nice little Lucas toggle switch like those used on the next generation of Sprites. However, I am replacing it with a switch with a knob that matches the wiper switch.
I understand a generic cable would work. I was just wondering if within the large family of interchangeable parts from the dozens of BMC cars anyone had ever found something that was compatible with the hex-shaped shaft with the little spring-loaded nubbin that retains the knob on it. Seems a shame to epoxy an original knob to a generic cable, which I assume you would have to do.
I know, this is a huge thread for such a small problem.
I love those old Falcons.
