Bugeye bonnet prop rod

I've got to put my prop rod back on the Bugeye, but it's been so long I can't remember how it goes (both up position and stowed position).

The usual suspects don't have pictures/diagrams and I can't find any pics online.

There is a clip in the nose section just behind the grill, but I can't imagine what that is for.

Advice or pics appreciated.

As one would wonder, why is there a prop rod and automatic locking devices on the hood prop rails? It would seem that this was belt and suspenders? The story that I heard is that the prop rod was used in addition to the hood prop rails in case a BIG WIND pushed upward on the bonnet, causing the prop rails to unlock, and causing the bonnet to fall. Has anyone else hear this tall tale, and has anyone ever had a problem with the stock hood prop rails?
 
I don't have a problem with the stock hood prop rails.
I have heard the story about a BIG WIND, but it was from you Scott so I guess it doesn't count

I got mine from AH Spares. The bracket/clip piece was assembled and painted backwards. Boy, was that a head scratcher! Took a little while to accept that was the reality, disassemble/reverse the two pieces and install.

I'm convinced not using the prop rod when leaving the bonnet up for extended periods is what probably caused some of the wheel arch cracks out there.
 
I know this thread is a bit old but I just happen to be looking for this information and Google found it. Would it be possible to get a picture of the other end of the rod, where it is suppose to rest on the bonnet? And maybe one of the rod in the stored position? I would appreciate it.
