Brake warning light stays on - help please

I have a manual that has a wiring diagram. Does he explain how things work - for instance like the association between the brake and oil lights and how to troubleshoot? I would really like to understand how things work.
Kevin

He explains everything including troubleshooting in plain language. There are 34 Chapters with titles such as "Oil, Brake & Warning Lights", "Turn Signals and Hazard Flashers","Switches, Relays and Solenoids".
I would not have recommended the book if it were no better than a wiring schematic, which, btw, are also in the book.
You've heard of books being described as "the---- Bible" ?
Well, this is the TR6 electrical system's Bible.

Kevin-

Just wanted to add here if it hasn't been said - since you've traced the issue to the oil pressure switch on the engine, that oil pressure light on the dash has to be on too. There's no other way that circuit would ground otherwise unless the wiring has been changed.

I hope you weren't insulted by my questions, Poolboy. I bought a small book a while back that ended up being pretty much useless for me - just wanted to be sure. The book sounds like it has the detail I wanted-thanks.

The Op switch on the engine had not been hooked up for some time when I bought my car. I didn't hook it up for the first time until my engine was rebuilt. Still haven't found my spare switch yet. I will let you know what happens.

Kevin

Off topic Kev, but... are you going to Portland on Sat?

Kevin, you want me to send that section to you?

New single-terminal OP switches are readily available and cheap. TRF has them on sale for $5, which is about what I paid at my FLAPS.

Lots of folks seem to really like Dan's book, so I won't say anything bad about it except that engineers sometimes disagree. But we're here if you have any questions.

Just checked my email - thanks for the sending that section, Don. Haven't read it all yet, but seems to have some nice detail I can understand. I won't be at the Portland car show yet once again. I swear there is a family conspiracy. There is always a family event on either the Bellevue or Portland show. This year I have to go to a wedding. I wanted to show my Bugeye (which I am still sorting problems on anyway) but I needed pics on the door caps and windshield rubber for the TR6. Oh well, at least I can drive the TR6 for now.

I bought an oil pressure unit off of Ebay tonight. Hopefully that will fix the problem. Thanks for the help.

Kevin

those pressure switches can be purchased at the local NAPA store, single terminal, there are a couple of types, that one is normally closed so your oil pressure light comes on and when you build oil pressure the switch opens and light goes off, I put a T in the block and added a switch, normally open and when the oil pressure builds the switch closes and the electric fuel pump starts NAPA brand is echlin i believe
