Brake Question part three

So OK!!

I've restored my rear suspension and adjusted my new rear brakes. Car stops very well.

I noticed something today, so for my TR6 leaning curve,
what did I notice?

I have driven a clutched vehicle for 45 years now.
I always start my vehicles in neutral gear, brake pedal
pushed down, hand brake full on. Then I turn the crank.

Today I noticed that when I have the the new brakes of my
TR6 pushed down, as soon as the engine starts, the break pedal
falls about an inch toward the floor. Is this just the vacuum
assist kicking in? Or something else.

My brakes are all four new with less than 2000 miles driven.

thanks,

dale

Yep - vacuum's doin' its thing.

Think of it this way: If the engine's not running, there's no assist. Then all of a sudden...

That is actually a good test for whether the booster is working. You apply the brakes several times with the engine off (to bleed off any residual vacuum in the booster), then start the engine with your foot on the brake. If you can feel the drop, the booster is doing it's job.

But a healthy booster will hold vacuum for a long time, so it's common to not notice this at startup, unless the brakes have been used with the engine off.

Stop looking for problems and enjoy the car. Get out of the garage and go drive the car.

<span style="color: #990000">But it's winter, Paul !! Triumphs
live in garages during winter months.

Heck, including the evening parade last night,
I think I drove Amos 4 to 5 hours yesterday.

Other than almost killing a mom and her two kids,
I had a great time.
