My driver side brake light works, so does my passenger side, during the day with no lights on. I went for a drive after dark today for the first time. Headlights on check parking lights in front on, check, tail lights on, check. Come to a stop sign and apply brakes and the passenger brake light works, but the driver side goes dark. No brake , no tail light. Remove foot from brake and tail light comes back on. HUH ???

HUH indeed. For some reason your drivers side light is shorting out when the brake circuit is activated. Are there two pairs of wires to the driver rear light or only one? If two, I suspect you have the polarity switched on the brake lights.

doin better than me, all i have are headlights right now! haha..it all worked one day; )....zimmmy

nope only two wires to the light, one for tail light (low brightness filament) and one wire for the brake (full bright filament in the same bulb)

AND the first rule ofLUCAS,, ground, always the ground, nothing but ground. I had a bad ground on the driver side. tightened up the securing nuts and voila brake lights at night.
