I rebuilt the calipers, replaced rear cylinders and now i'm putting in new hoses...the hose says dot4, but i've heard a few of you say dot5...which one? 67 tr4a

I would recommend silicone brake fluid(DOT 5 not DOT 5.1 which is different). My experience with it has been excellent.

hoses are in...off to buy some silicone dot5... thanks guys!

If you are a fast guy then stay with DOT 4.
If you're using your car more like a museum toy use DOT 5.0

Cheers
Chris

thanks cris...JUST SPENT TWENTY SIX BUCKS!! anywho... taking a baseball break then bleed em... after that I plan to put it on 4 wheels and drive around the block . this car has not ran in 26 years...i'm more nervous than excited, but don't know why.motor and trans are done brake system is completly rebuild and I can't understand why i'm nervous.

Mine is no museum piece and my home is situated such that my most frequent drive is down & up a 9000' mountain -- but I have never had a problem with the DOT5 in 10+ years of use. Just my experience.

Good luck on your first drive -- be sure the lug nuts are tight.

the dot5 is in, the car had it's first ride and the driver side rear drum is stuck...what to do?
