WARNING

Wow! Thank you for posting this. I made a few copies and gave them to friends.

Wow is right!!

That is scary and I've been around all of this stuff all my life and never knew it could be that bad.

Good read, Scary stuff, You might want to post this on the other forums.
Thanks

There are non-chlorinated brake cleaners commonly available (contain hexane), which are much safer in all respects except flammability.

As far as I know, most all Brake parts cleaners now sold in the US are non-clorinated. Still, that's an inportant thing to know about. Thanks for the post.
I know I have a few cans of "the good stuff" in my cabinet in the shop. I'm probably ok since I dont have argon in any form in my shop

Remember to use safety when you use any of the compounds and chemicals used in any circumstance. We are all guilty of miss use of compounds not realizing how dangerous it can be. You are on a job and close to finishing and run out of a chemical that is right for the job, but in a hurry or not wanting to leave and get the right stuff, you use what you have, luckily you got it done. It only takes once to get to you or a loved one in the vicinity of your project. It does not just mean garage stuff, but household too. Use your collective learnings and use the proper stuff and you'll always live to enjoy that precious car or family the rest of your life. It's just like getting under a car without jackstands or lifts and depending on the jack to hold it. THINK FIRST, THEN DO IT RIGHT! for you and your family.

I sell four different brake cleaners, three non chlorinated and one with tetra-chloro-ethylene. Looking at the MSDS sheets for each I found that all of them can kill you if not used properly. Don't allow high concentrations of fumes to accumulate.
Drinking the stuff isn't healthy either.

"Drinking the stuff isn't healthy either."

Anybody who drinks the stuff shouldn't be allowed to contribute to the gene pool...let him drink it & suffer the consequences.

Amen, Tony! Doug *has* to point out th' obvious... Same as: "WARNING: Hot Coffee!" an' all that. :smirk:

Frankly (or Johnly), I found it funny.

How do ya keep kids from huffin' glue? Or playin' the "Choking Game"?

Tellin' 'em it'll KILL 'em doesn't seem to work. Th' Bad News is: those who've tried it and only HALF died are now VETTED!!

...oh I'm gonna SOOOOO pay fer that...

You hit the nail on its head - Tellin' 'em it'll LILL 'em doesn't seem to work.

& the results of studies with white mice in a lab don't mean squat to 'em also!

They have to see a friend die from whatever before it dawns on them that something is dangerous.

"BILLY BOB!!! Hol' my beer! Watch THIS!!!"
