Brace up-date

After seeing all the braces everyone is making up for their Blind Moose shock towers, I decided it was time for me to act. Since I have the BPNW tube shock conversion (and was the one that lost my cross member from cracking) and the RATCO new heavy-duty cross member, I decided to go ahead and make mine bullet proof as well. Notice that instead of bolting my brace to the frame and shock tower, I chose to make up a bracket to weld to the frame with a welded-in 3/8" captive nut. Then I welded the top of my brace directly to the shock tower. If I had to ever remove the shock tower, the tower and brace (now one piece) would come off as such because of the angle of insertion. See photo below. Got lots of clean-up and painting but too tired to go any more tonight. Besides, I am getting the evil eye from the wife.....

Not braces update, but brace update. Oh, and I chose not to use angle iron but instead used a very stout piece of 1/4" thick steel bar for my brace. Not worried about it torquing. Before the brace, when I rapped the BPNW shock tower with my fist, I could indeed detect a small bit of vibration. After the brace, like hitting a brick wall.

Re: Brace up-date

Interesting Bill as I have pretty much deduced that my set-up must have been BPNW also and damage was exactly the same. I am in the process of putting in front and rear tower from Ratco as well as shock in coil set up from Tony. We had a minor sizing issue with the front tower and Tony was to be passing through RI on Sat . He volunteered to stop by and review set up to make sure everything would work out correctly. Great guy and was super helpful in making sure we got the max benefit from his set-up. Has some other parts in the works which will be hugely successful I suspect. He invited us to come down to one of his tech session Saturdays and I hope to get the chance later this year.Seems to be a great advocate for out LBCs.
