Just spoke with the body shop. sigh.

Was supose to be complete by 1 sept, now he says mid Oct. But I had really figured on early oct, you know those body guys.

Well, it will give you more time to get that tensioner installed... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

That means Jerri's VW is gonna be even later...I'll go by bodyshop tomorrow

Took mine to the blast shop about the first of June. Maybe I'll have a record. Went to paint then about first of August. Gesh hope I can complete before summer after this comming. Would like to go to the Golden Julibee.

Went to see mine today Jack. It looks like the paint starts flowing tomorrow evening to cure over the weekend. Color sanding/buffing etc next week and pick up on Friday.

I kind of like the marbled/purble look. Pimp your Bugeye? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

That blue may have been a guide coat to spot any remaining high/low places. I always try to use primers and sealers that lean towards the color of the finish paint so that chips are not as noticeable until they get touched up. There are tinitable primers/sealers, but most people avoid them. The pigment particles reduce the overall adhesion of the primer ... and that is bad.

I don't know... maybe you'll be starting a new trend in Bugeye color design...

Figured it was a guide coat. Nice choice for the blue final paint. I'm a fan of the original blue color, not that common. I'll probably keep the Tunebug white (its original color) but if I was to change then the blue would be top on the list.

Ya just got to love those curves.

Did you ever make it to our body shop Tony?

No, Jack, I'm under my race car hooking everything up & breaking keys in the '79 I just bought - have replaced the ignition twice & broke it twice!

Oh gesh Tony, quit braking things. I'm working on garage. Got the bug and seem to have the time. Think I will organize good, paint and do the floors as well. Will certinaly make the wife happy.

Jack,

Here are some things that took longer (are taking longer) than expected that you may want to think about while you have some down time waiting for your body work to be done. Just some thoughts--obviously you may already have it covered:

1) seat rails. Mine original ones were destroyed. Sourcing other correct/original ones was very tough
2) stainless steel brake lines with the correct fittings. Many weeks and counting
3) windshield frame, pillars and trim. Already commented, but yes, this has taken much longer than expected
4) rebuilt gauges: took a long time to have restored
5) Heritage (or other, I guess) upholstery. 6 weeks or so

Just some thoughts.

Status.

Seat rails, mine are fine and waiting instaltation.
Brake lines, think I will order here https://www.classictube.com/index.asp
Windshield frame and pillers. Windshield glass in, frame polished, Posts polished, cockpit suround also polished.
All gages are ready to go and tested.
Upholstery, prob will go with Moss, they have stood me well in the past but I guess I need to check out Heritage as well now that you mention it.

Heh, my Harley rear view mirrors just came to mount in the front windshield post bolt hole. Let me tell ya for 13.50 each and they are lovely.

Ben, I have a new windsheld and the rubber mounting as well, came with the car, the windsheld is even tinted a light gray and is a real Healey one. Shrug, not a mark on it.

The mirrors are super nice, really really.

search on Part numbers 91930-92T and 91931-92T

Pics there as well as on line ordering, do it now, these are super fine and the price is right, they go in the front bolt hole of the windsheld piller.
