Body panel alignment

Hi Guys,
Thank you for all the different views and reasons on this post. You've given me a lot to think about. I'm starting to get back to work on my 3000 and I really enjoy getting your opinion before each job. I hope you all have a great holiday season and get lots of new parts under the tree.

If Santas listening theres always room for a real factory 100M under my tree and if he thinks I have been good enough then make it a 100S please:D;):encouragement::encouragement:

I think we all understand that the engine and transmission will not provide additional rigidity to a new or well aged original chassis.

However, it seems using that method also demonstrates the chassis' reaction to being loaded and off loaded statically.-IMOP

The late Eddie Miller Jr was a member of our club and I recall him putting the sub-chassis on a center dolly structure and placing a bag of cement at the front and rear of the chassis when he was working on it. I do not recall the "why" so I can't help you there. Google his name and you'll find some very interesting reading. He also could take a sheet of metal and make a fender with it and you would need no bondo for final finishing! His "Lakester" car was featured in "Rodders Journal" front cover last year with a great story inside to boot!

Hi Patrick,

I believe Ed Miller Jr. was producing a slight reverse arcto counter frame sag. When restoring myBJ8 in the mid ’80, I did something similar by building a rotisserie andinstalling replacement components (i.e. sills & dog legs, floor panels, andsome frame reinforcements) with the substructure upside down.

I would like to say I did this on purpose but it was justmore convenient. A couple of automotive structuralengineers informed me of the effect I had produced when the club had met at thehouse to review my progress.
