David - great work, but what photos did you use for the hardtops? The side of the hardtop does not seem wide enough and the top itself does not seem to have the correct curve? Perhaps I am looking too closely of my factory hardtop in the garage and not in place on my Longbridge?

David - regarding Jim's comment it appears that the hardtop is too 'domed'. Is the car itself the correct length? The 100 Six (and 3000s) were 2 inches longer than the 100s. The difference in length is reflected between the rear of the doors and the rear wheel.

To both Jim and your comments on the hardtop. Yes, I lengthened the chassis/body as described in Clausager's book. For the hardtop I modeled it on several images harvested off the Internet. That said, many (maybe all) of the visual differences between what I draw and what you see are due to the zero perspective aspect of profile drawing—something not possible in real life. It often means I need to make adjustments to bits based on perception, such as the one you have mentioned.

I'd like to make it as right as I can so if Jim wouldn't mind snapping a pic or two of his hardtop and sending them my way, I would be grateful for the assistance.
 
David - I will be sending you some photos of the hardtop for my Longbridge BN4 over the week-end. It will be in the 70s here. I hope you will be able to see the differences. Sorry to say that the hardtop will not be on the car, since it is in the shop getting ready for Enclave.

The difference in length between the 100 and the six cylinder cars is in the doors - 2" longer for the sixes. It looks like the wheelbase is the same for both models in the drawings.

David - my hardtop is the same as Jim's, but I have to redo the fiberglas and repaint from a job that I did over 25 years ago. But I will be sending the photos to you over the week-end

First, thanks for your keen eyes and willingness to contribute your knowledge to help make for more accurate work. Thanks to Bob I went back and rechecked the body profiles and found that, indeed, while I had drawn the correct BN4/BN6 profile, I had used the previous BN2 body when I built up these two files. That's been corrected. Sometimes, I'm so deep in the work, that I can miss the most basic things. You can't have too many editors.

I've used the thumbnails that Jim provided to re-draw the hardtop and can clearly see the significant difference between the new profile and the previous one.

I've also attached a BN2 illustration as a point of reference for the body/frame stretch.

A couple of things—one totally on topic, one totally off topic.

First, thanks to Jim for sending me some excellent photos of his (soon?) to be restored hardtop and taking time to review the redrawn profile of the top. Thanks also go out to a few others (you know who you are) who were willing to share images as as well as knowledge. It was a bit of work to re-do the top but the new edition is much more faithful to the part and I'm glad for it.

Just for fun, next is a print I'm just completing on the occasion of Gerry Coker's 93rd birthday coming up in June—the black and pink car shown at the 1955 Earls Court Motor show. Have to love that "dusty rose" interior.

Thanks to all who continue to share their experience and knowledge. I may draw the cars but it's the collective knowledge of the community that makes them accurate.
