BN1 3 Speed Transmission Third Motion Shaft Disassembly

I have the third motion shaft out of the BN1 3 speed and the first thing in the directions is to remove the splined lock washer. The directions say to depress the spring loaded steel plunger, which locates the splined washer at the forward end of the third motion shaft, and turn the washer into line with the splines of the shaft.

EDIT: I have figured it out but do not know how to delete this post...

In addition to what Keoke said, you should post your solution. It may prove useful to someone else in the future.

The problem was this gearbox probably sat unused for 20+ years and the oil was very gross. The pin was stuck and not moving which made it confusing to how to release it. I ended up driving a very small screw driver between the gear and pin and then it popped loose and I could push the pin in towards the shaft. In a properly cared for transmission this would not be a problem.
