Block Heater Valve

Folks,

Now that cooler/cold temperatures are on the way I need to see if I can repair the leaking original heater shutoff valve on my BT7.
I know the heater puts out very little heat, but even with the top down, a little heat at my feet seems to help.

The valve only leaks when opened.
It leaked some years ago, and I mated the two brass surfaces together using graphite and rotating the valve back and forth.
Is this the only fix?

I have been told by a Moss dealer that the new ones leak.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Ron

You need to mate the surfaces using valve grinding paste. Use fine paste and lap the pin to the body till they match perfectly. Leak solved.

It comes in fine, medium and coarse. Get all 3, it will last a lifetime and it has many uses, not the least of which is lapping intake and exhaust valves. Good stuff, right up there with JB Weld, Marvel Mystery oil and Hylomar gasket sealant.
