TR2/3/3A Bleeding Technique

Well just as well, you do not want to push the rod so far out that the rod adjustment forces the throw-out bearing onto the clutch arms. As strictly an experiment can you use a spring that holds the piston back with a smaller force?

I really don't want to mess with it now. The clutch feels great and the pedal is right where it should be. Jacking the car numerous times, bleeding the slave, adjusting the rod, it's time to enjoy a ride. Looks like I'll have to add the Practical Hints For Maintenance as a source for information. Is it only available as printable or can it be purchased?

Frankfast,

TRF has the Practical Hints for the Maintenance of the TR3. It can be ordered by part number 501528/3.

If you have a TR3 it is well worth having a copy to read.

Roger

Strange that they only have up to 3rd edition. They used to offer 6th.

There were at least 6 different editions of 501528, each one updated as the cars changed during production. The PDF linked above is the 6th edition, but 501528/3 appears to be 3rd edition. From my notes, the 6th edition adds things like the gearbox filler on the side; schematic for the later wiper motor, dash rheostat and in-line fuse for the tail lights; later 165 tire options; and the horn fuse was changed to 35 amps (Lucas rating system).

FWIW, I've got another copy of the 6th ed posted at https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2H2NJt34OffNjQ4MTkyNjItZTVmYi00M2U2LWJhYWUtMjEyZDgxMzUyNzUw which has a few small notes and additions, like an extra wiring diagram for LHD cars.

I'm working on a scan of 3rd edition, but it's not ready for prime time yet.
