BJ8 Cam with BJ7 Engine?

Hi Everyone,

In a previous post I asked about the worn tappets. The Cam in my BJ7 is worn also and will need some work or replacement.

My question is, if I re-grind to a BJ8 profile or replace with same, do I need to replace the smaller HS6 carburators with the larger HD8 used onthe BJ8, or will the smaller carbs work well with the BJ8 profile?

Anyone have experience with mixing the two?

Thanks!

No need to go with HD8s. Your BJ7's HS6s will work just fine with a BJ8 cam. The HD8s will just give you maybe about 5% more HP... with probably 10% worse mileage.
