What is the best method for getting the two tone line right on a BJ7 (blue over white). I believe the guy that painted mine just sprayed the blue on first then masked a line along and sprayed the white, i'm not 100% happy with the finish and would like to get a cleaner line and better curve when he has the car back to tidy up odds and ends, can anyone suggest a good way of achieving this.

The cars were originally first painted with the main color & the second color, lower, overpainted.

The blend line should be at/in the bottom of the beveled section where it doesn't show so much. I think this is the main cover up.

A skilled painter can, by correct taping & gun angles, create a tapered paint thickness at the blend line. Sometimes light sanding & buffing is used to remove any "nibs". Not exactly easy but doable.

Modern paints clear coat over the two colors which fills the blend area.

In Anderson and Moment's AH 3000 Restoration Guide on page 40 there is a detail of the paint break just as Dave discribes. I would like to know where the cove paint should wrap around at the joints that is where do you end the cove paint? Thanks and have a good day!

Re: Best method for getting the two tone line righ

Hi John,

The cove paint should wrap around the vertical edges to just inside of the outer surfaces. Not on the inside faces of the doors or door openings or wheel openings.

The transition behind the front wheel varied with the model. See attached pics.
