Bench bleed slave cylinder?

Well, after my unsuccessful rebuild of my slave cylinder, I bit the bullet and just bought a new one from BPNW. I went with the "OE" TRW model. On the box is a warning not to use silicone brake fluid, but it also includes the instructions to bench bleed the unit before installing. I have not heard anything like this before for a slave cylinder. I'm thinking this was intended for a master brake cylinder since on the side of the box is a label that has the part # PJL705P and shows a sketch of a brake master cylinder. It also says on that label ROVER Defender 90, so I'm thinking BPNW put a TRW slave cylinder in a box intended for a brake master cylinder out of convenience. No bench bleeding would be required for a slave cylinder, right?

Correct. I've never had to bench bleed a slave. Most of the time they they gravity bleed themselves once started. I believe you are right about the instructions on the box.

John,
I can't think of any advantage to bench bleeding a slave cylinder so the box or instructions were probably intended for a master cylinder. I think there is still controversy about silicone fluid but a lot of Triumphs running around with it. I'd just put it on, bleed it as usual, use the silicone fluid, and forget about it.

Before I would do that I would call BPNW and ask them what they think about using silicone.

Standard inst. on the Sili fluid it seems.

Think there has been a reason posted before
