Battery wrap needed?

Back to the battery cover.... to me - it looks like the only thing which fell apart is the cheapo covering material. The insulation looks ok. I would leave it as is. As Walter pointed out, modern cars just get much hotter under the hood, the engines run hotter (better thermo efficiency) and there is way less air flow and it is bad for batteries. The idea is to try and keep the battery from boiling.
In any case since the insulation seems ok I would just leave as is or get a generic. no need for a "custom nissan" blanket. Also make sure the battery is topped off it really does get hot under the hood

Consensus seems to be to protect the battery from engine heat - not to keep the battery warm (as that would only work for a short period of time after shutting down the engine.)

Not sure if it is worth the coins from Nissan - but suspect having it is better than not.

I bought one of those for my TR6.I was very disappointed that it didn't last
very long,considering what I paid for it.I think the originals were great batteries,
but something seems to have happened since then.

Replaced the TR4A's Optima Red Top in September..it was purchased back in January, 2011.
