Well the turnout at the Glen was better than a lot of Triumph Shows I have been to, and of course, John Macartney showed up to talk at the Legends Speak event, at the IMRRC auction, and at the track on Saturday and Sunday.
Probably over 600 race cars of all sorts, definately over 250 Triumphs including the racers, and Triumph and Racing legends and personalities, not to mention TS1, 250K, Peyotte, Devin and other one off special Triumphs. Meeting Jack Drew's son Tony and watching him race was a moving moment knowing Jack passed just three weeks ago.
I think a combined FOT / VTR / TRA / Wedge / Spit / 6Pack show at a national Road Race track could be really epic, certainly if it was at the Glen. The infield area is extremely versatile, provides camping and all sorts of facilities, Watkins Glen has a brand new resort hotel and loads of other accomodations. 46 Wineries around Lake Seneca and the Glen State Park adds to the draw, not to mention the Wings or Eagles museum and IMRRC library with spectacular local scenery.
FOT Racers are pretty laid back - the only important schedule is what time to practice, what time to qualify, what time to race. Everything else is hanging out talking to friends and swapping "stories" inbetween repairs for racing. Great bunch of folks all around.
My personal thanks to Joe Alexander for having John Macartney attend and for pointing out folks to talk to and promote the TTA Drive in this initial kickoff.
Epic!
