article on oils

I break in all motors race and street on Rotella 15/40, this article only deals with new/rebuilt engine break in and not oils used after that. As for What I run in my tranny is Mobile one motor oil in a normal gear box, and of course the fancy do gear race trannys use differnet oils, I won't even get into here because you can't run them in a street tranny. Same for the race engines, most of the oils we run you cannot buy on the shelf of your parts store because they are not intended for extended use, anything on the shelf at the parts store where it is labled racing or not is safe for extended use. AS for after break in, Castrol should be fine, David's advice on Rotella is a safe bet as well, it's good oil for the money.

OH and the Castrol you bought ten years ago is not the Castrol you're buying today. The biggest thing about all this is to use a zinc additve oil or a zinc additive for engine break in.
