Anyone else lived near weird stuff their whole life?

This thread started with a question about living near weird places, and mounds were specifically mentioned. When I was a Captain in the AF we lived in Troy, IL, which was just a few miles from Cahokia Mounds https://cahokiamounds.org

Now That is a very interesting Historic place!

but in reading the Cahokia mounds website I noticed something weird & current......really, down right depressing:

Quote:
"Due to the economic conditions of the State of Illinois and the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, no funding is available for public outreach, community events, and marketing. All of these activities are funded solely by the support group the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society. "

So the state of IL. Is so poor, it can not properly support an important one-of-a-kind, historical site?

I live in The Villages, FL. Enough said....

Since it's the Halloween season, when first married we lived in Salem, MA and our apartment was on the first floor of a three-story 1700's home where the official Salem witch lived (really). She held witchcraft classes for the local college as well as hosting get togethers of her coven. You talk about weird.

I have neighbors, weird enough!

That's definitely up there on the weird scale.

Steel mills, nuke plants and Harmony Village. Highest and lowest national per-capita incomes in the same place.

It just occurred to me; I've lived near myself my whole life - can't get weirder than that!

My entire family and a dog and cat that shared their litters with each other. Plus we raise 50 chickens in an upstairs bedroom.

Are you kidding? The name of my town is "Horseheads"!!!

Witch-wanna-be's.........AKA: witchful thinking.

I live in a city built on a 56 volcanoes and a potentially active field at that.

Is that weird or just plain dumb??

If I remember rightly, I sold the head Witch a refrigerator when I was working for Highland sales in Salem. Very odd character.
I believe she is Lori Cabot.
