For the apparent condition of the car, its probably not so high. These things are scarce in any condition. Too bad its RHD. I'm not sure they ever made them in LHD.

You mean any RHD car, or a RHD Triumph? I've never had the chance to drive a RHD Triumph, but I've driven RHD cars in the UK and South Africa. Weird at first, but you eventually get your bearings. Biggest issue I had at the start was hitting the curb over and over again until I blew the tire. But it made for a memorable encounter with a surly old English farmer who told me the tire blew cause it was one of them [censored] Jap cars! (It was actually an Opel, but nevermind /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif )

I've drivin RHD here in the US a few times. I was suprised at how quickly I adapted to shifting with my left hand. that and the turn signal stalk were about the only major differences.
The problem come in trying to pass and pull out into traffic from the curb. unless it's a narrow, small car this can be a bit tricky. A passenger really helps things.A convertable helps even more.
Fast food Drive thrus are a riot, and having your passenger use both hands to wave at people is amusing too.
I'd personally have noe real problem buying a RHD car, but then again, I'm weird.

That car is beautiful! Had I not just bought my YB, I'd probably be Pasadena tomorrow morning. (Its not that far for me)

I'm just now adapting to the RGD and it doesn't seem to be too bad. Most important is, when facing another car in left-turn lanes, knowing you can't see &*%t! You just have to be a bit more patient.

I just looked up the Renown and, if it's all he says it is (58K mi, redone leather, etc, it would really be wonderful car. Especially if it's one with the optional OD.

If I had garage space, I'd be thinking "mate for the Y." Actually, are MGs and Triumphs allowed to date across marques?

Hmmmm.

Just think how postal carriers feel when they drive RHD at work and drive home LHD!?

Yeah, they do it every day! By the way... so does Steve S! Most of his cars are RHD!

I was looking up the Renown a bit more. The TBD was built from '49 - '51 and, along with some similar cars, are known as "razoredge" cars due to the sharp body lines. There is a club for them in the UK but they don't ship parts to North America - they say for "insurance" reasons!?"

I'd be curious how this guy keeps his on the road. he must know the right people here and maybe abroad.

I also just noticed that it's the Tampa Bay Craigs List. Must be another S. Pasadena, one NOT the one so close to me. Whew!

The Renown and 2000 Roadsters of that vintage shift on the right! Makes it easy for us in the US. Engine parts are easy to come by (essentially a TR2 TR3 motor). If the car is complete my worry would be the wood frame of the body. If this car is an unrestored original it is in fantastic shape. He could send it back to the UK and get his asking price and shipping easy.

I drove a RHD rental in Australia. No problem during the day. But at night, I had a propensity to want to keep to the right when approaching oncoming traffic. Thank goodness for the screams from the gals in the car, or I would not be writing this. Then there was the round about...more screams. Or was it the Swan Lager?

I have driven both a rhd Standard Vanguard and series 3 Landrover. U turns are a bit strange, it's great for gutterballing, but passing is next to impossible. But then, its a Renown, who are you going to pass?
