Any historical re-enactors here?

Ben - were you in the crowd?

We just finished our annual "Redcoats and Rebels" weekend at Old Sturbridge Village.

Largest historical re-enactment event in New England, mostly centered around the American Revolution. Nearly 1,000 re-enactors portraying British, Hessian, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, French and Colonial troops. Mock battles, cannon demonstrations, fife and drum units, visits to campsites, lectures on late 18th and early 19th century politics, plus our regular New England history interpretations.

Here's a collection of photos made at last year's event:

Excellent! Good food, music, great outfits, and lots of CANNONS! sounds like a great weekend. I may have to put a pilgrimage on my list.
I really don't have a good collection of pics from my camp outs. I gotta work on that.
Looks like you had a big turnout.

O.k, I wanna know, how you guys decide who meets their maker and who's gonna be left? :confuse:

What y'all oughtta do is, on the first volley, everyone light 'em off at once on both sides and ~EVERYBODY~ falls over!

That'll get them spec'taters.

I only wish... Historical re-enactment isn't done much here in Alberta... Although I do know some folks who do interesting things...

This group isn't exactly historical but they do have fun with sword fighting still...

We do have a fairly active Viking re-enactment group though, a little more ancient history...

But I do love foks in costumes/uniforms, just don't see enough of it here for my taste... :frown:

My brother went to an 1812 reenactment this year (it's the 200th anniversary) said it was amazing! was near Kingston & they had boats and tall ships and cannons in everyone's yard. he was very impressed.

Ben - thought you'd enjoy this:

"Oh my friend, how did you come -
to trade the fiddle for the drum?"
