We visited the Arizona, but it was hard to really let it sink in,
as there was a boatload of Japanese tourists there at the same
time. It's not that they were Japanese, but it's hard to get the true
grasp of what happened with a room full of people.I think it would
be best to be there by yourself.
My friend Rob told me that his Dad was stationed there at
Pearl Harbor when the attack happened. He was in Dress Whites,
so many went & soaked them in coffee,so that they didn't stand out.
His Dad kept his coffee soaked uniform,& Rob donated it to the
museum at the Naval Air Station in Oak Harbor, where Rob was stationed
in the '70's.
