I was pretty close to dropping a late model Rover 4.0 into it - which would be a pretty quick car - but have come to the realization I need to get her into better long term ownership than I am providing for her.

PATR8 said:I was unable to convince my son to go with the SD1 even with the offer of a trip to California to pick it up. He went with the Volvo. My daughter, if I could find a SD1 with a cool paint scheme, would be all over it.

They were actually pretty fast back in the day - lots of rally success. Check out this YouTube video - it is directly responsible for my lack of discipline in picking up another car.

Since the 70 Volvo I had a 1975 242, 1981 242DL, 1987 740 turbo (my favorite of all my cars excluding my TR's) and now 1990 740. Rock solid cars. In fact my 740 turbo had 356k on it when I gave it to my son for a winter car and it still has the original turbo charger in it. Amazing!! Here is a name and phone number of a guy in Ravenna, Oh. He has done lots of my work and is known as the for most expert on Volvos. He has acres of Volvos for parts.
