I hope everyone had a better long weekend than I did.

On Saturday, the dog tried to burn the house down. Apparently hit one of the burner knobs on the stove, causing it to turn on which caused a pan on the stove to overheat. We now know our Brinks system works well and the police and fire depts respond QUICKLY! We were up the street having dinner! Got home to the police sitting outside the house.

Then on Sunday, our 5 year old hit his head and ended up at the emergency room with a mild concussion. He had been playing on some playground equipment and slid down and on the way bumped his head. He seemed fine afterwards until an hour and a half later he was throwing up and lethargic. Stayed overnight in the hospital. Really scary!

So now it's Monday and they say things happen in threes. The pattern seems to be things that could have happened but didn't. The dog could have burned down the house but didn't. My son could have been hurt more but wasn't. So maybe "I was going to skip buying a lottery ticket and didn't!" could be the third thing??

Thanks for letting me vent! I hope you have a GREAT Memorial Day! :laugh:

P.S. Dr.s say the little guy is fine! Going to pick him up in about an hour! Yeah!

My weekend was rebuilding the little front porch on our house. but now it's all done, painted and looks good. Now it's off to the parade, then its GRILLIN' TIME!!!!!

& I was basically invbollved w/grandson's 2nd birthday...but I did get half my yard cut today before it raided plus some small stuff on the '63 Midget done (I can tell you which oil cooler hose goes through which hole in the bulkheads!)

I spent my Memorial day weekend chasing what I thought to be an electrical problem with the Front roof air conditioner on my M.H.. I removed the contactor {the one that changes from Gen. to Shoreline power} and rebuilt it, cleaned the contacts and reinstalled it only to find NO CIGAR! Then proceeded to inspect the circut panel, nothing seend to be amiss there either. After much contemplating on replacing the circut panel I decided to look at the Gen Set itself. Turns out it has a fuse {that checked out ok}, then I noticed, almost well hidden there were two circut breakers and Yea one was tripped. I reset it and wallah the Frt roof Air was back to normal.
I guess what i`m getting at is .... I spent three days of much gnashing of teeth, muttering under my breath, standing on my head to get at that contactor and related parts and accomplished absolutely NOTHING!
Well almost nothing anyway ... at least now I know and understand how the contactor works!
If all goes well ...... this coming weekend will be the first M.H. road trip of the year {a short test run} about 100 miles round trip.

Well, you DO now have a rebuilt contactor with cleaned contacts that you don't have to worry about for a while! That's something! :laugh:

I spent Sunday resolved to figure out why the BCF Wiki was giving a "Forbidden, You are not Authorized to access this Page" error anytime you would try to save edits to any Wiki pages. Its been a problem for a few months now, ever since I upgraded to the latest Wiki version. Well, Sunday I finally determined it was my server security that was causing the problem and I've now fixed it (I think) so the Wiki should be working again. I did some other minor tweaking on the forum over the weekend as well. The wife and I also went to see the new Indy movie.

Pretty quiet here. The Nashville club did make it up to the local winery for their "Jazz on the Lawn" event on Saturday. Forum poster, Curt Curtiss, made the trip, along with several other members of the club. Perfect evening, and I believe the local economy was boosted a tad - at least the coffers at the winery are fatter!

Then yesterday, another Forum member, "Joelb" came by with a buddy to pick up Jack Laird's "new" 948 lump, thanks to Mike "Mxp01".

Sheesh. Now I ~know~ there's somethin' in the water. Spent most of yesterday at an 'attempted' water pump/cam belt replacement on bro's Honda. Could ~NOT~ get the crankshaft pulley bolt to budge. My 1/2" air impact didn't do it, first time EVER it has failed to undo a bolt... Went for an electric one, couldn't find an adaptor to reduce from the 3/4" drive down to a 1/2" socket. Sears hasn't got one, couldn't locate one at a friend's shop so he loaned me HIS windy and an electric impact, THEY didn't do it. Another friend came over with an adaptor for the 3/4" drive around 4:30 (we'd been at this since 9 AM!) but the 3/4" electric failed as well. We reassembled all we'd removed so's he could drive the thing, started it and it developed a miss. Another hour spent finding the offending part (#2 plugwire) and replacing the set (another trip out to a parts store). By 6 we were at the same point we were six hours before. Good running Honda with a water leak... BARR'S went in it. :shocked:
Leak thwarted, Honda to be visited by a 1" truck windy today.

Day was nearly a total failure. Grilled up some ribs later to assuage my bruised pride.

Kerry, You crack me up! A 100 mile, "short" test run??
My short test runs are all under 2 miles and usually break down.

Sat and Sun aboard Adventure of the Seas.
Monday I wanted to go fishing so bad I could taste it.
But my fishin Jeep's in the repair shop from the flying
boxsprings damage.

So at 3:30 AM Monday I gathered my courage and loaded all the boat
gear into the Crypt Car to attempt the 20 mile run to the marina
withour breaking down.

Dead of night, no moon- a fully functional car required

Made it to the marina just fine-

A few hours later my high performance boat engine ate the
air compressor drive belt for 115 psi fuel delivery system.
Adrift at sea a few miles offshore. Thank goodness for Coast
Guard radios and friends with boats.

Dale and The Crypt Car arrived home as the sun set,
in time for dinner. 40 miles R/T is an endurance run, Kerry.

Went to the cool mountains of Ruidoso NM...loafed...ate..loaed some more. Bought a 65 Bug so my wife got to share in the driving duties. basically relaxed and watched all the Texans(thats about 95 percent of who goes to Ruidoso)drive like they were in Dallas and get nailed by the local cops. The speed limit thru the center of town is 20 or 25 in spots. These jokers were flying down the street. Thank you Texas for donating your money.

At 70 mph there is much more stress on the car and my probability
of a breakdown increases exponentially with rpm/mph in my car.

I will be very content to attain a reliable, 50 mph max TR6.
If I want screeming speed I'll use my boat for thrills in
the twisty turn canals of the mangroves!!

My first test run in my MGB was the 350+ mile round trip to Tony's house for more parts - hehehehe (all backroads, because it shimmied bad over 45 mph). The first time I ever drove the Alfa was the 175 miles (interstate this time) home from Tony's. Jeez, you guys gotta start taking some serious first drives :thumbsup:

In 2 1/2 years of constant $$$ repairs, my bucket of bolts
TR6 has only one single time attained 100+ miles in a day
without breaking down. I'm happy if I make the 30 miles R/T
to the local biker bar without breaking down.

I spent the weekend loitering around various train stations and railroad crossings trying-and mostly failing-to photograph trains. Heck, I ended up shopping more than shooting! The record collection increased by five and I ordered a couple of new mysteries on Amazon. I tell ya, my commute takes me through two freight yards and past a diesel shop, and when I'm actually trackside with a camera, no trains!

I did drive the B a little-the red light starts to glow as the car warms up, and it goes out above about 3000 rpm when warm, so it's short trips only till we get a new alternator. Leastways, I <span style="font-style: italic">hope</span> it's just the alternator-Dad's already ordered one!
