Don't make me choose a favorite war movie! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazyeyes.gif I like so many.
"Saving Private Ryan" is certainly at the top of my list. Modern filming techniques (hand-held cameras at the beach landing scenes) render it one of the most realistic of all, I think. Great cast, too.
Being a Frank Sinatra fan, I'm fond of "Von Ryan's Express". Also, "The War Lover" with McQueen is a good one, too.
And of course, "Midway", a true block-buster. I first saw it in the theater in "surround sound" the first movie I can recall with modern stereo sound system.
Not a WWII film, but "The Blue Max" is also a fave. Starring a young George Peppard, it's about WWI flying aces. If you haven't seen it, do. The dogfight scenes are thrilling.
Love them war movies! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
