For those interested, I do a lot of classic car restorations as mobile mechanic. I started putting up an Instagram and Facebook page for my work. I'll post the links in my signature.
Two days ago I removed a 67 Amazon engine, the client wants it restoring and running much better. Removal is only two/three hours tops, and the rest of the day tearing the engine apart.
The head was removed and sent to a machine shop for a skim and valve reseating. The pistons, rods, crank remained in place as I was satisfied with their condition. So, with a thorough cleanup of the block and a paint job I think the client will be happy with the result considering the tight budget (which adds a little pressure, what stays, what goes lol).
So far, the head was worked on, new camshaft and end sprocket, 1ed3 ignition fitted, injectors cleaned, new water pump, new belts, all gaskets and seals (including crank seal) have been replaced. I need to have the exhaust manifold repairs as it is badly cracked, but all that remains is finished up the rebuild.
After spending a few days on a Mercedes Pagoda, it is nice to work on a basic engine again! Love these Amazons.
