who is sweltering??? It's been 106° here in Kentucky for the last three days. Supposed to get down to 99° on Monday.

Crazy hot here, too, Gary. Our outdoor thermometer shows 110.3 right now here in Clarksville! "Official" temp. is 105, but once it hits 100, it doesn't matter!

True statement Mickey..."Official" and "real" are usually two different things!! All I know is that it's miserable...

Our house is two stories. There's an A/C unit for upstairs and one for downstairs. The one upstairs can't handle the load. This is an older house, and the insulation is not that good, so even though the unit is OK, it can't keep up.

Obviously, we're staying downstairs!

Need to move to the NW You'll be Bit...in about the opposite end of that spectrum.

Not 3 digits, but well into the 90s here, and for us frozen northerners that's plenty!
Same situation here as at Mickey's house. upstairs is warm even with the A/C, downstairs saw the installation of a brand new 10,000 BTU window unit yesterday. Niiiice!
I'm off and going pre-1840 camping this week. I'm glad for the nice weather, but tomorrow is setting up the tipi with my friends. It promises to be hot. Tuesday is setting up my tent, and thursday is heading up for the rest of the week. Gonna be a hot year. I just hope we don't see any nasty storms like we've had in the past.
Keep cool everyone.

Sprinkler hose on the roof my friend.

Put it on a timer to go off for 5 minutes every 15-20 minutes. Makes a world of difference. Great on uninsulated metal buildings too.

Now there's a thought! If the water doesn't immediately evaporate when it hits!

That's the idea!

When I lived in Texas I would put a small sprinkler in front of the AC condenser (outside) unit and run it just high enough to wet the coils- made the unit much more efficient and powerful.

I just go out and sit in my grand-kids kiddie pool.

Today it is 90F here in NJ with high humidity.

Not bad, BUT:

I had two lawns to mow today (our house, plus our summer house).
Total is 1.5 acres. Not bad with my 19 HP riding tractor, but I am currently suffering from bad lower back pain (I get it every now and again) and cannot sit for more than 15 minutes....the tractor kills me).
So the only way I can mow is standing up with a push mower. I just did both lawns with our 3.5 HP 24" wide push mower.
I'm pooped!

Yep - that I do. That does help, for sure. And both our units' sit in the sun during the hottest part of the day!

Never thought I'd say this but... we're a balmy 91°F! Bit of a Gulf breeze and not too bad.
Youse-guys are bein' slow-roasted! :eeek:

I have a men's soccer game at 6pm.... it's gonna be HOT!

Good time to be an assistant Elliot

No AR's on these games don. The men's over 40 only use one ref... it makes it tough to call OS.
I just got back from the game... put a fork in me, I'm done!

According to the weather station in my neighborhood at 3-4 pm, 107.4, dew point of 76, heat index 120. 3rd day in a row of record heat.
