Aluminum tail pipe section. Does anyone know off a source for the aluminum tail piece? I tried the big 3 and no go, and I have no experience with the overseas gang.

Jeez - hard to believe such a simple thing could go to unobtainium. Hopefully not a permanent status.

Even when they were readily available I think many were not quite correct - they were just a straight tube whereas I believe the correct part had a greater diameter for the portion that went over the tail pipe.

For me at least they have been somewhat a consumable as that is what scrapes if a drive or curb is too steep. The bottom side of mine are nicely ground down - they get periodically returned to a round condition with the usual tailpipe expansion tool.
 
Yes I called all over town for the aluminum, but they think I am nuts. I bought one from I think TRF years ago, and I remember Chuck saying I got the last one they had , and Moss lists it as a N/A. It is difficult to believe there is no 2 inch aluminum stock around where people will spend 25.00 a foot for it. My old buddy Barry Nelson knew they were aluminum and he judged concourse when he lived here at the Seattle show. That, the ¼ fine thread wings nuts on the battery J bolts, and the original fender bolts were for fine tuning the contest.
