Airtex vs Facet fuel pump

I ran 5/16" Cupro-Nickel fuel down the left side, then up under battery box, then up to the Filter King filter/regulator. I use 3/16" Cupro-Nickel brake tubing down the right side up to the adjustable brake bias.

The Facet that Bill show's is polarity sensitive and is a quiet one. I had one and forgot that I had one car still positive ground. One click is all I got!! Check Airtex sales lit but I believe they are not polarity sensitive. The Facet can shaped pump that Blue max showed is probably the most reliable pump that you can buy with a Filter built in. I believe his is upside down in the picture. The filter twist's off the bottom. That pump is the old Bendix made pump that I got used from a friend in the 60's to put on my MGB. A friend still is driving that car with well over 150K and the pump is still going strong.

When this thread started in March I read with interest as I was considering replacing the Facet pump in our Spitfire. My son is still reporting possible fuel starvation issues so I am looking again at replacements.

Those of you who have installed the Airtex E8016S seem to be very happy with it. The pump is listed as 2.5-4.5 PSI. Has that caused any of you to need a pressure regulator or do they seem to hit the middle of the pressure spec and work fine with your SUs?
 
I just replaced my airtex pump. It gave me roughly 40,000 miles of service. It didn't totally die, but I could hear it rattling a bit and hesitating. I spent $25 on a replacement. At that cost, I'm happy with 40,000 mile service.

I've not had any problems with pressure causing float valve leaks.
 
Doug, I just installed a cube Facet pump to fix fuel starvation. The one I used was rated at 1.5 to 4 and has fixed my problem on my Bugeye. If you need the model number, I can probably get it.

Thanks Trevor. I have at least temporarily added the Airtex pump to my Amazon cart.

Charlie, I was wondering if you got the fuel system ironed out and if I would see you at the show this year. We haven't sent in our registrations yet. We'r running out of time. I just don't know if I want to take the time to get the Mini and GT6 ready to go to Raleigh. I am getting lazy in my old age.

I have a Facet on the Spitfire at the moment. My older son is complaining of intermittent driving problems that sound like fuel starvation. With all the filters and such being new and carb being clean I am scratching my head. An inexpensive pump swap sounded like the next logical step.
