Add some "bling"

Hmmm...to each his own taste....is there such a thing as "too much bling" on a car?
found on e-bay

Re: Add some "bling"

I don't think I'll be bidding. Over 25k buy it now price and you still need to "dial in the bump steer"? Can you really bore out a 1275 engine to 1380 cc? That's about 6 cubic inches which is more than you can bore a ford 5.0 and have a reliable engine. Seems like a lot for a 4 cy.

Re: Add some "bling"

I don't think I even read all the details....How it runs is not near as important as how you look going down the road!

Re: Add some "bling"

Is it just me or are the wheels and tires a bit large for the car?

Re: Add some "bling"

Well, if it's possible to have too much "bling," that car's got it. I prefer something more classic--what was wrong with the original? It's like reorchestrating a Mozart symphony so it sounds better on Muzak.

Re: Add some "bling"

Not in my neighborhood, geese, I would get laughed out of town.

Very common. These are 1275 Strokers. Buy one off the shelf, if you wish, or kits. Also 1430, 1445 and 1480.

In fact, with a pre-A+ block, (which includes Spridget), Vizard demonstrates a 1556cc / 74mm bore or a 1596cc / 74.7mm bore! Crazy A Series.

You might find "Tuning the A-Series Engine" by David Vizard a good resource. Required reading in Mini circles:

Re: Add some "bling"

Good point!!! If all the claims are documented, that actually sounds like a pretty sweet machine to me!! I think I could find fun ways of using that  ! Wish I could afford it right now!!!

Re: Add some "bling"

It's the mirrors that put it over the top for me.

Re: Add some "bling"

I dunno! I have one on the drivers side similar (not chrome-but painted body-color) and it works pretty well! Heck that's a detail that can be remedied...I would even consider re-painting it differently (after the body-work mentioned was addressed!)!!

Re: Add some "bling"

Seems he spent a lot of money trying to make the car beter in his own minds eye. I can understand with his 3 kid thing the need to part with the car. as always. it is hard to get out of a car what you put in it.

Re: Add some "bling"

Other than the stripes... I like it. Of course I'm comparing it to my own heap.

I noticed that too. Seem like the offset is not correct.

Someone should hide the JC Whitney catalog from him! lol

Re: Add some "bling"

Not to comment on the car's worth, but I do have a couple of general questions:

35 lbs. oil pressure at idle? Is that a little low? Result of the overbore?

Re: Add some "bling"

I think 35 lbs at hot idle is fine.

Re: Add some "bling"

35 at hot idle is high in fact. Should be about 20 stock.

Re: Add some "bling"

Reason I ask is that my B has 55 at idle!

Re: Add some "bling"

That car is setup entirely wrong for street use.

The close cut gear box alone on the street would be a trip, not to mention the engine mods with an aluminum flywheel.

jeeez, I would take it for free for the parts though

Re: Add some "bling"

My goodness Mickey best back that off or check the oil guage. You going to mess things up, like spin a bearing or such.

Re: Add some "bling"

I think its the color with the bling that makes to...cheeky
theres some cool parts put in that car but you would think they would have done something different with the roll bar cover looks like pipe foam and electrical tape.
