Well, just two fouled plugs. #1 and #2 were black and fluffy. Found high resistance on those two plug wires, and traced it to some schmutz on the distributor posts. Put a new set of plugs in it, and cleaned the cap. Pulls to 6500 in 1st and 2nd, ran it to 6250 in third. Then I had to back down lest the local constabulary take notice.
Don't you folks have spare engines lying around? I've even got a spare engine and trans for my 740 Turbo Volvo! I think the only thing I don't have a spare for is the Fiat.
A couple of years ago, a fellow forum member stopped over to see if I had a 1275 he could borrow while he rebuilt the 948 in his '62. When he left, he was driving a 1275 Sprite, rather than the 948 he came with. I even had a spare 1275 stainless exhaust we tossed on .
Now I can finish the 1275 that is planned for the '72. .040 over, flat top pistons, fully ported head, 11:1 compression, reworked HS4's,lightened crank and rods, big cam, roller rockers, aluminum flywheel..............
All that is left is to finish polishing the valves, and install the head.
Building engines to me is relaxation therapy.
Jack, when I was stationed at Davis-Monthan, a friend had a Porsche 912. I had to build a killer 948 for one of the Bugeyes just to knock him down a peg! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
