A bit more restoration progress with pics.

Things are finally starting to gel since the engine work is mostly behind me now. The one thing I have learned is that one cannot be in any hurry to restore a 45 year old British car.
It seems as though every step forward is met with 2 or 3 back.

I've been stripping, sanding, grinding, polishing and collecting various suspension components, so hanging the suspension is next on the list.

Anyway, as promised, here are a few pics. You can see more at:

Are you talking about my engine or Tabcon's??? Mine is covered with 50 year old vintage crud very VERY period. Tabcon's is shiney and new looking ... pretty unbelievable in a LBC if ya ask me ..... LOL

(I can only dream mine turns out half as nice as his when I'm done)

Great photos and engine. But if I had payed that much $$ for a new Ratco frame, I'd be a little unhappy to see that they carved their name on the radiator support.

I bought a new truck years ago and since p/u trucks didn't normally come equipped with a rear step bumper, I ordered one. When I picked up the truck after prep, I found that they welded the dealership name across the rear step bumper that I just payed extra for. Needlessto say, they spent some more time changing out the rear bumper and removing each of the 4 additional dealership stickers that they placed on my vehicle.

Sorry Ratco but please don't carve your name on my new $3K frame.

The RATCO name is all over the frame. The radiator support is no big deal as I can make a new one with no problem. The other places are not that easy.
There is a RATCO carved emblem on each shock tower behind the front wheels and one on the bottom carved into the center crossmember that the exhaust passes through. I could cover them with thin metal plates I suppose, but I'm really not to concerned with it since I would tell anyone I sold the car to that it is not an original frame.

I'm not sure if Tony does this because he wants to or he is required to.
Since he is literally copying the frame from cars that are still existance, he may be required to do such a thing to cover patents, copyright, registration etc.

There is also an aluminum plate affixed to the frame with Ratco's own serial number on it.

Still looks good to me, carvings or no carving, but I do get Peter's point. Sometimes less is more, but then who knows what his lawyers told him to do?

Could you rotate that radiator support 180 and then turn the RATCO to the ground if you don't want to see that?

RATCO would still be there to call out having a brand new frame, just not as obvious.

Tony used to only put the RATCO name in one place on the frame. I don't recall when he started to spread the name around. I'm sure if you asked him not to do it when ordering a frame, he would comply. I see him every couple of weeks, so I'll mention it to him that there is some negative feedback concerning this.

Personally, I think that a plate with the RATCO name and serial number should be enough.

Art,

Hopefully he won't say, "Aw Sh--!!! You mean that I shipped my show frame out by mistake?????"
