TR4/4A `67 TR4A-IRS on ebay for $4600 / Scam or Stupid?

Was the ad originally with no reserve? And now the 2nd version has a reserve.

Hmmm - can't the seller just stop the auction, by saying it's no longer available for sale? Then start the whole thing over?

It's now 6:42pm EST and the bid is ...

wait for it ...

$1525.00!

Hey Folks; This is getting "Exciting"!!

She currently sits at $22,900 / 4 bids / No Reserve / No Buy It Now / Text still reads $4600.00 / 2days, 22hrs to go: Can`t wait to see the Outcome!!

Have Fun Ya All;

Gentlemen - would someone kindly explain (?) how it went from $1500 at 6pm to $22K two hours later?

Since this is a scam, the bids are all irrelevent. The seller will cancel, retract or void all the bids before the auction ends.

Holy Cow!! This auction mysteriously disappeared. What could possibly have gone wrong?

That would happen if someone bid at or above the reserve. The bid then goes directly to the reserve amount.

Sometimes bidders throw a big bid out there just to see what the reserve is, then retract it claiming it was a typo.

Well, scam or screw-up... looks like this one's over for now. If it was legit we may see the seller relist w/o that $4600 price in the text.

Hi Folks;

Personally; I believe ebay probably pulled the plug on this Dude!

As I mentioned previously; I filed a "Potential" complaint stating that I wanted to purchase this car for $4600.00 & Wanted the Seller to "Confirm" the asking Price! No Reply from Seller?

Well Anyways; He`s off the Air / I lost a Sweet `67 TR4A for $4600.00 / Perhaps It may "Re-Appear" tomorrow???????

Going to a Car Show Tomorrow;

Have Fun Here Folks;

Regards, Russ

I don't think you lost TR4 for $4,600 , I think you kept yourself from getting scammed for $4600. This was a scam.

Hey folks....

I received a reply from the "owner"...

"Sorry for the delay,

If you are interested in my 1967 Triumph TR4A, Manual transmission, 58k miles, you should know that it has never been wrecked or damaged, the car is in excellent condition. All the manuals, clear title and the original documentation come along with the car. The total price that I'm asking for the car including shipping and insurance fees will be $4,600. The car is located in Sanford North Carolina.

I've got photos of the car hosted on Internet at the following link:
https://s199.photobucket.com/albums/aa172/NeilWayneFoushee/

Some details and options:

Transmission: Manual
Engine: 4 - Cyl
Exterior: Green
Interior: Black

The car is in great condition inside, outside and mechanically. The interior of the car is free of cracks, rips, tears or any other damage. The vehicle's undercarriage is free of rust, leaks, or mechanical damage. The vehicle's electric is working perfectly. A complete service/safety inspection has been performed to ensure everything is up to par and of course it passed with flying colors!

Respectfully,

Neil Wayne Foushee"

Since I just got my TR6 on the road, my wife would shoot me if I even asked... but I hope someone on the forum is in the market...

So, check up on it further, if interested..

And the only accepted payment method will be a cash transfer via Western Union, but only 1/2 down!

"The total price that I'm asking for the car including shipping and insurance fees will be $4,600."

How does that read?

I agree it is a scam....but how inept.

Re: `67 TR4A-IRS on ebay for $4600 / Scam or Stupi

These guys have been known to hook multiple guys at once with these off ebay deals. $4600 x 5 = $23K

Re: `67 TR4A-IRS on ebay for $4600 / Scam or Stupi

Re: `67 TR4A-IRS on ebay for $4600 / Scam or Stupi

This is the third time in 3 months (that I know of) that this scam artist has pulled this with an eBay auction for a TR4-A. I'm sure he pulls it with plenty of other cars too, I just happen to follow these cars. No telling how much money he walks away with - it must work because he keeps pulling the same scheme. Anyone on this forum shopping for that car on eBay should do so with great care. Maybe if enough people notify eBay something could be done??
