Temp was dropping in the house. Opened the basement door and heard the condensation pump running continuously. When the condensation pump runs it shuts down the air handler so the pump doesn’t overflow.
Problem solved. The plastic tubing that exits the basement was frozen so the pump could not empty. I also have a dehumidifier in the basement that drains into the pump. Disconnected the pump and drained it then shut down the dehumidifier. Once that was done the air handler turned on and we now have heat.

Good you found it before an overnight stint sans heat!! 👍

Oh yeah. I was lucky as we would have been awakened to a frigid house for sure.

I got up in the middle of last night to take my medication,& then
noticed that our heater wasn't working. It was supposed to get down
to 3 degrees,so I was a little concerned.
Turned out to be an "Error Code" for the heater,& our son was able
to figure it out & get it working again.
Seems that the storm passed us by,except for the COLD wind,& the
sun is out.

Glad you have your heat back on.

This "once in a generation" storm is the SECOND one we've had to experience down here. Don't want to go thru another one. We're lucky, we have a good heating system.

Our heater went down last night. It was just blowing cold air,
& the fan wouldn't shut off.Called the place that sold/installed it,
& they're closed today,with no on-call people.
Normally it wouldn't be so bad,but our Daughter & her family
are coming from the Richmond area to do Christmas with us today.
I WANT A BORING YEAR!

A good heating system in Florida? you mean the outdoors?

That's worked well enough for most of the year. The last week has been an exception though. We saw overnight freezing temps in mid-state. Went down to the Miami area for the Christmas holiday, even there the weather was cold and damp, overcast and rainy (below 50°F). The Christmas Eve and Christmas Day family gatherings were indoors for the first time in forty years. Very glad to return to th' Hovel where we've "central heat" instead of relying on some wimpy A/C heat pump system! "Outdoors" heating will return in a couple days, we'll see low-to-mid 70's tor mid-day highs again. "Chamber of Commerce" weather!

I truly feel for all those folks who've had to spend their Holiday in airports, luggage scattered to the wind. Especially those traveling with kids. Sad part is we had days, if not weeks of warning this was coming.

As an aside, we drove home the 250 miles yesterday, Interstate 75. Southbound traffic was a continuous three lanes. Snarled in three different areas, dead stopped and literal miles of cars in virtual parking lots. Curiously, our northbound trip was an uninterrupted four hours.

It must be Capistrano, Fla doc. The annual return of the snowbirds. Did ya see their white feathers?

Didn't notice feathers. Lots of out-of-state tags tho! You'd think they would know how to drive...

Should be much warmer by then! We're due one more "cold snap" before the State Fair starts up though. Then one rainy day in those 14 days.

I remember the days when the State Fair was held on the grounds of UT. Eons ago.

Face it... we're old. 😉

You'd not recognize "downtown" Tampa now. In days gone by on a Sunday in town you'd be surprised to see two cars on the streets. Now it's like a city in the northeast. Actual traffic!

Elliot,

Are you coming through Roanoke,VA?We're not too far from I81.
