TR2/3/3A '56 TR3 St 15000+ should have disc brakes... Right?

They have been NLA for some time. I spent 2 years just trying to locate the collets for them...which wound up coming used out of UK, and in sorry condition. I don't see the collets in your pics, but they may be included in the small piles you bought.

Anyway...they are worth a lot to a purist looking for them. Unfortunately, there are not many TR2's being restored, so it may take a good while to find someone that needs them. So very valuable, but very slow market.

I vaguely recall seeing a Standard-Triumph Service Bulletin from the period noting that those old-style "integral" splines had been discontinued and any future service would involve using the bolt-on adapters (and, presumably, the appropriate hub to match as needed). So I suppose it's only a really dedicated, diehard "purist" who would overly obsess, such as the owner of a TR2 with a commission number in the three-digit range or lower? ;)

I have a complete TR2/3 wire wheel hub (rear diff and both front drums) set if anyone were to want to go to wire wheels. $500 for all.

Well, I finally brought home all the pieces yesterday (the PO was gracious enough to store for a month while I tried (unsuccessfully) to finish my other project).

Unfortunately, one of the drums has a chip in it, not sure if it's salvageable or not, I think it might be slightly more than one could drill to rebalance (I assume an unbalanced hub would cause vibration).

Anyway, the good was that the car came with a couple of surprises, recently refinished seats and an original working temp guage (I had thought it was missing and that the seats would need redoing).

Anyway, this winter I hope to get the motor refreshed and possibly the frame blasted and sealed, I will worry about brake options in the spring, unless someone has a great deal on a set of front TR3 disk assemplies...

Cheers,
Kerry

Congrats on the purchase, looks like it's gonna be a lot of work in there to keep you out of trouble. Any chance you got extra set of gauges in the piles? I'm looking for a set for my tr2. Did that one come out of Edmonton?

Not sure John, I have only loosely looked at options - since I am likely starting from scratch, I am happy to take advice.

Hey rubicon, yes, lots of work ahead, and yes, this is the one from Edmonton, drove up yesterday. I am afraid there are no extras with this one, no obvious ones anyway, I haven't really sorted it yet - tucked it away and tried to make everything look as tidy as possible so as not to incur and wrath over having two open projects... Cheers, kerry

Sorry John, just realized we miscommunicated - the chipped drum is in reference to the non-original TR2 drums previously discussed in this thread. What I was looking to do was trade this assembly for an appropriate disc assembly, but I am worried they are useless because of the chip... Cheers!

Last I checked, the drums are readily available new (which wasn't the case for many years). So likely it wasn't worth much anyway. But the rest of the setup should still be interesting to someone. (Not me, as I've already tried driving a TR3 with front drums. I like discs a whole lot better!)

Glad to hear that is went to a good home! My tr2 project looks like that as well, just a lot more rust! I'm Hoping that this fall/winter I'll get to start my project.
