A tr6 on ebay is at $38k and counting!!!!! That car was listed in the past but do not remember the outcome. I am wondering if it a scam, because I emailed 2 times early in the auction with no rsponse. I would think this is a record price? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif
 
and now it is mysteriously removed by ebay........

I'll pass the $30k barrier this week and
I have not begun any engine or transmission work.
And the Crypt Car is not nearly streetable.

I never add anything up, so I wouldn't know. Nor do I want know, either. And I especially don't need my wife to know.

I like this thread....I've got about 3k into my latest 6...sure it doesn't look very purrty(yet) but it's reliable and streetable - I'll entertain offers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
 
Makes me feel great. I have less than $7,000.00 into mine, but a lot of sweat equity.
 
less than $3K but the same as Doug.......lots of sweat equity. Although....if somebody offered me 50K for my car, I wouldn't sell it.
 
Dale I hope your yankin our chain with that big number. Even if you add the sales amount. even if you paid over $10,000 (which I hope not) you shouldn't be that high.

Trust me, he is not fibbing. I think a lot of Dale's problem is the exorbitant cost of labor on the island. I have a nephew who lives in Puerto Rico with his native wife. He says some things are outragious compared to the mainland (he is from Texas). Still think one of us could make the trip and sort it all out and save Dale a bunch. No, it won't be me. He would end up deeper in the hole.
I think Tin$ter is trying to $et a record. Any more horror stories out there? I have some good ones but can't top Dale's.
 
$6700 investment, about $250 in small stuff so far. Looking at paint and upholstry this winter. I have a friend that does a lot of body work and painting, and he is going to help me with the paint.


I still have a lot of tune-up work to do. I know I should do all of that before the cosmetics, but at least, it will look good while sitting on the side of the road waiting for AAA.
 
I'm embarrassed to say it, but I have Tinster beat.
I'm not saying any more than that.

We can live with the parts expenditure, even if the switches are way way overpriced, but as we all know labor to get things the way we want them is high and even then we don't always get the job we were hoping for. Now if I could just quit upgrading and leave it alone, I would be set. (Just going to install the D overdrive, George are you going to be in NC anytime soon, need help.) When I got mine, all the parts were in boxes, glad he trailered it, as a lot of stuff was on the trailer floor, fenders, doors, windsheild and trunk lid all stuffed inside. It took a year to just figure out what I needed, but I did learn to fix most things while trying to find out if it worked or not. Wayne
 
Sweat equity is the way to go! Nothing like working for a good ole 17 cents per hour!

I will say that is a very nice TR6, but for $38K I would buy a $28K Ferrari Mondial and a $10K TR6 that was just as much fun to drive as this particular car! Gotta be smart with how you waste hobby/car money!

I have to echo that one. I never let my ex-wife, or any of my family for that matter, know how much I spend on my cars. Unless they have the bug themselves they will never understand. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
