3.0 iron weight difference

question,
does anybody know the weight difference between the stock iron block and head compared to the aluminum 30. aftermarket on a bj8 ?

Both your car and your wallet will be considerably lighter.

Hard question depends on alloy mix. But it might reduce the weight close to 40%?

Moss claims their alloy 6-cyl head is 51 pounds lighter than the stock iron one. If you knew the weight of either, you could calculate the percentage weight reduction of alloy and apply that to the block to get a rough approximation.

That's nearly a 60% weight reduction--seems a bit high to me (maybe Moss's figure is a bit optimistic). I'd guess a 30-40% weight reduction with alloy.

My recollection is that aluminum alloy is about 1/3rd the weight of iron or steel. So a 65% weigh reduction sounds just about right.
