it's this weekend.

I was going to put this in "Racing" but I think it may have more general interest:

Speed TV will do streaming on their website for part of The 24 Hours of LeMans

Go to this page:

https://www.speedtv.com/programs/24-hours-of-le-mans/

...and scroll to the blue box at the bottom left side of the page.

They'll be doing live streaming from noon until 4:30 and then more from 10 PM until midnight.

There's also some coverage on the TV channel

The Brits are there: Aston-Martin, Ginetta and Lola have cars entered.

Speed is finally in HD in our area. Hopefully they will be using 1080 cameras

I'll be watching as much as I can stay awake for!

I look forward to this every year. It has to be the best race there is.

I am so looking forward to it!! This has been the highlight of the year of my race-spectating for years and years. This is the one race I get rather cranky about missing. The more coverage, the better!! Thanks for that link, Nial!!

I'm going to a friend's house to catch the beginning. May try and stream a bit of the later coverage as well.

It will be a nother weekend on the couch in the living room.

Pat

Yet again I may miss the whole thing, or at least most of it. I'm flight planning a trip to the islands, ideally I'll be back by evening but who knows :frown:

Hopefully it will be on while I drink my coffee in the Am. It's the only down time I have.

Isn't the online streaming for times when they are not showing it on TV?

At least, that is what it seems to say here.

I remember when speedtv first started (it was actually called the speed channel), they used to televise the whole race from beginning to end...all 24 hours of it. Now we get five or six hours chopped out during prime viewing times so they can get the NASCAR, pinks and other junk in there.

This race is run ONCE A YEAR. You'd think that Speedtv could put all the other stuff on hold for one twenty-four hour period, and showcase perhaps the greatest race of the year.

Oh, how I yearn for the old days at speed channel when they put on all kinds of races. Everything...including boats, airplanes, rally...a real nice eclectic mix.

End of rant...

I agree with Art. Thats what happened when Fox bought it.
Their studio is here, but they won't listen to me. If I were running it, there would be a lot of i--ts of of work, starting with Pinks.
More race coverage such as British and German touring car championships, Aust. Super Cars, USAC series, etc.
Back under my rock now.

Indeed!!! Those were the "good old days" when it was the Speed Channel!! It seems that everything Rupert Murdock acquires suffers in order to appeal to the lowest common denominator!!

As far as this years' race, I'd have to put my money on McNish and/or Christiansen and Audi again for the overall win!! That R15 TDI looks to be awesome even though Peugot took the pole!

Dang!! I HATE digital TV...I think we will all regret the switch to it! Signal breakup is SO annoying...never got THAT with the old rabbit ears! If the picture faded out, you usually still got sound, or vice versa!! Staring at a frozen or pixilated image is frustrating! :wall:

Out of the approx 100 cars entered this year, there are lots of American drivers at LeMans-2009

Tracy Krohn, Joe Foster, Don Kitch, Patrick Dempsey (yes, "McDreamy"), Seth Neiman, Darren Law,PatrickLong Johnny O'Connell and Chris Dyson

I'm a big fan of Belgian, Jackie Ickx so it'll be fun to watch his daughter Vanina Ickx in the USA-based Creation CA07-Judd

Also, I'm a fan of Sébastien Bourdais so I'll follow him in the super-fast Team Peugeot Peugeot 908 HDi FAP (diesel)

There's four Corvettes entered. You have to just hope any of them will even finish.
No Vipers this year. Endless Porsches and Ferraris.

Five various Astons entered (technically, some are Lolas)

Three Ginettas listed too.

A Chinese team will be there (running a Porsche 997 GT3-RSR)

There's five of the Audi TDI diesel racers entered.

I agree with Mike. Audi is the favourite with Peugeot having an outside chance.

This is SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!! :wall: :wall: :wall: 5 min. before the start and the digital picture starts breaking up and now, 11 min into the race and there is STILL no picture :madder: !!! What a GREAT IDEA NOT :smirk: !! to switch to digital!!! FOX does it again  (drop the ball, that is!!) :wall:

:eeek: Less than an hour into the race and the Puegots are trying to self-destruct!!!

I guess it is going to be a very late night. They have racing from midnight through 6am. This is one of the two races I do enjoy to watch with the other being Bathurst. Last year I was able to watch the whole race on the net.
If I get the car ready for the show, I think it will be a quiet day in front of the tv and pc.
Allan

Back when Speed Channel did the flag-to-flag coverage, a few of my die-hard friends and I would pull an all-nighter watching the race and running our own version on a board game we evolved and modified from the Parker Bros. "Grand Prix" game. That was what these miniature models were originally made for, as game pieces!!
