As some of you guys know, I've come to a crossroads in my carrer. For 4 years I've been at a Toyota dealer as a technician. Lately things have been getting tight, and all said and done it became time for a change.
So today I handed in my 2 week notice, and informed them I was accepting a position at an independant garage.
So starting on the 21st I'll be the shop foreman at MD Automotive in Newfield N.Y. (just south of Ithaca on Rt.13)
Best part is, the shop owner is all for me working on British cars there. Obvously not as the mainstream, but I can take them on as time permits. So if any of ya all happen to be in the area, and need some LBC work done, It looks like "Banjos British Cars" has taken a form! Mebbe I can even become a " supporting Vendor" hehehehe

Kudos!

Nice to mix business and pleasure!

Best wishes, Ben!

Congrats Ben!

Sounds like a great fit for you, maybe a stepping stone to something even better?

Nice Ben, we all have our fingers crossed for your every sucess.

Thanks Guys.
I'm not so much looking at this as a "stepping stone" as a good place to settle in. The phrase is "there's wheels on toolboxes for a reason" meaning if ya don't like it, go somewhere else. But I'd really like to get somewhere where I feel I could stay and not worry about that. this is a pretty stable shop, run by a very fair person whom I deeply respect. and there's even a chance, wayyy down the road, of being able to "buy into" ownership of the place.
I'm hoping I'll be satisfied in the position here, and not be always striving to get that little bit more.
Only time will tell.
Thanks for all the good wishes.

Good luck with the job change -- got to work somewhere, so you might as well be happy.

!!!! Best of luck mate!

Benny th' shop boss! We knew him when...

Seriously: good for YOU! Being dissatisfied or unhappy at what you do for work is not good. Too many allow themselves to be trapped. You've "escaped". Hope it turns into a more fulfilling environment. Sounds good from here!
Bread 'n butter work with a little banjo pickin' on th' side!

Ben - congrats on taking that "next step" in your career. You've definitely got intestinal fortitude (!) to change jobs these days, and it sounds like you found what you were hoping for. And lucky to find it in the Finger Lakes area! Wave at Scipio Center next time you drive by!

Well done!

Tom
