1st oil change on rebuilt motor

Ok, got 500 miles (almost) on newly rebuilt motor.
Is it too early to go to a syn oil (amsoil 10-40, good flat tappet stuff) or should I wait a bit for more 'wear-in'...
Suggestions?

Unless you have noticed problems with excessive oil burning, should be no problem with synthetic.

Then the rings are seated as well as they will ever need to be; and there is no reason not to switch to synthetic if you please.

I run Valvoline 20W50 full synthetic in all my Triumphs; it seems to work well. No experience with Amsoil, though.

Never used it either but it was recommended to me by a friend...they make it specifically for flat T motors as it has the old levels of ZDDP in it.
Thanks Randall for the info btw.
